About Akinyele Akinlosotu's work:
Photo Theme:
Crossroads of Survival: The Pulse of a City
Photo Story:
This photograph is inspired by the resilience of everyday people. Taken at Iyana Ipaja Bus Stop in Lagos, it captures more than traffic, it captures ambition in motion. Every bus (Danfo) carries dreams, every motorcycle (Okada) carries responsibility, every trader (Iya Oloja) carries hope, and every pedestrian carries purpose. Amid the congestion lies a city that refuses to stop, reminding us that progress is not always smooth or quiet. Sometimes, it is loud, crowded, and relentless, yet it continues forward. This image celebrates the extraordinary determination hidden within ordinary moments. Where others see congestion, I see courage. Where others see chaos, I see a city refusing to give up
How long has Akinyele Akinlosotu loved photography:
I've loved photography for several years. What began as an interest led to a provisional admission into one of Nigeria's prestigious university (Federal University of Technology, Akure) where I studied Industrial design (Graphics) and has grown into a passion for storytelling. I enjoy capturing real-life moments that reflect culture, resilience, and the human experience, turning everyday scenes into lasting visual narratives.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
I discovered my passion for photography when I realized that a camera could do more than capture images, it could tell stories. Bayo Omoboriowo's Unabash event where we moved on the streets to take photos was a game changer. As I explored different environments and photographed everyday life, I became fascinated by the emotions and narratives hidden in ordinary moments. Since then, photography has become my way of documenting reality, preserving memories, and giving people a new perspective on the world around them.
