A State In-between Worlds

Photo Story:

My aim with this photograph was to capture a person in a state of them just being themselves. A glance into their inner self where they exist without the pressure of external thoughts, inner turmoil, or unruly emotions.

The light that falls on her is bright, but it doesn't overwhelm. Rather, the light illuminates her face, revealing just enough of her truth and character. This light shows her as she is, no longer hidden, but not fully exposed either. There is no urgency in her expression, only calm acceptance of what is.

The darkness does not threaten her, instead, it frames her. It contains all the good and bad aspects of her life, the secrets, the triumphs, and the unspoken truths.

How long has Jason Mbanefo loved photography:

I have loved photography as far back as I can remember, since I was a child.

How they discovered their passion for photography:

As a child, I always loved looking through fashion and art catalogues, interior decoration magazines, landscape photography. I really only realized my passion for photography in secondary school, when I had the opportunity of using my friends professional Nikon camera, it felt so natural taking pictures. I still remember my first ever pictures I had taken, it became a core memory.
