About Somto Nwadike-Raymond 's work:
Photo Theme:
Voice of The Shore
Photo Story:
At Tarkwa Bay Beach, there’s a familiar rhythm most visitors eventually encounter, a Rastafarian with a guitar, turning the shoreline into his stage.

I was there working on a personal project when he approached us mid-shoot and said, “Oya snap this one… go around the world, you no go see any pose like this.”

In that moment, I stopped directing and started observing.
He owned the frame completely.

I took a few shots, but this image stood out. Not just for the pose, but for what it captured: a man fully at home in his art, performing with effortless confidence and freedom.

How long has Somto Nwadike-Raymond loved photography:
10 years
How they discovered their passion for photography:
Simple….my father.

Growing up, I watched him work on projects for notable brands and serve as a Director of Photography on film sets. Being around that environment, it was only a matter of time before I picked up the craft myself.

The first camera I ever used was one of his old ones, but with it, I discovered how much I could create with very little.

He has been a major inspiration to me, and I can only hope he’s watching over me and proud of how far I’ve come.
