About Khalifa Auwal Saleh's work:
Photo Theme:
Threads of Time: The Weaver’s Heritage. Long before industrial looms, our stories were spun from the earth. Inspired by a mission to revive Northern Nigerian culture, these images celebrate the beauty of our people and the rhythmic dance of our ancestors. It is a commerce of patience, where every thread is a heartbeat of our history.
Photo Story:
My inspiration for this series was born from a deep desire to revive and celebrate the rich Northern culture of Nigeria. I wanted to showcase the quiet beauty of our people and the dignity found in our traditional crafts. By documenting the intricate process of weaving, a skill passed down through generations. I aim to shine a light on the cultural heritage that defines us, ensuring that the artistry of our ancestors remains a vibrant part of our modern identity.
How long has Khalifa Auwal Saleh loved photography:
I have been a lover of photography for over a decade, driven by a natural instinct to capture the soul of my surroundings. My inspiration for this series is to showcase the elegance of Northern Nigerian traditions, preserving the beauty of our cultural heritage and the artistry of the 'olden days' for the world to see.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
My passion for photography was truly ignited in December 2024 when I launched my brand, 'Hidden Lens.' My goal was to let the stories speak for themselves, keeping the photographer anonymous so the focus remained entirely on the subject.
After winning a national contest where my storytelling was recognized as 'powerful,' I was inspired to step forward. That recognition motivated me to continue using my lens to revive Northern Nigerian culture and share the untold beauty of our people.
