About Egbon Richard 's work:
Photo Theme:
The Elegance of Heritage
Photo Story:
In this studio portrait, the image captures a striking blend of African regality and modern artistic expression.
The subject stands poised and composed — her gaze calm, her posture confident — embodying the quiet power of African beauty and tradition.

Her headgear (gele), a bold metallic red, commands attention with its sculptural folds. It rises majestically, like a crown that speaks of pride, identity, and cultural strength. The reflective texture of the fabric catches light in all the right places, making the entire look glow with authority and grace.

Around her neck and wrists lie layers of white beads, symbolizing purity, elegance, and ancestral connection. The abundance of pearls creates rhythm and texture — soft yet powerful — as if telling a story of royalty passed through generations.

Her outfit, a deep teal traditional wrapper, contrasts beautifully with the red gele, creating a rich visual balance between calmness and confidence. The simplicity of the fabric allows the accessories to shine, turning the composition into a visual symphony of color, culture, and class.

The oversized turquoise earrings add a touch of artistic rebellion — bold, modern, and unapologetic — representing how today’s African woman can stand between tradition and modernity without losing her essence. The sunglasses, round and dark, seal the look with contemporary attitude: mysterious, stylish, and empowering.

Every element — from the posture to the accessories — was curated to tell one story:
